COVID-19: Second round of vaccination begins today

Health officials will today Wednesday, May 19, 2021, begin administering the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine across the country.

The GHS has already deployed the second dose of the vaccines to the designated vaccination centres countrywide ahead of the exercise today.

The second round of the national vaccination programme comes approximately 12 weeks after the first jab as the science prescribes.

Ghana took delivery of about 350,000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines on Friday, May 7, 2021, from the Democratic Republic of Congo through COVAX.

The vaccines arrived at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) aboard a Turkish Airline flight- Airbus A330 Kushimoto.

Ghana has so far inoculated about 850,000 people, with a focus on health and frontline workers, persons with underlying medical conditions, and people over 60 years.
